Ekholmen Group

Our approach

A forever home for well-run companies.

We invest in profitable small and mid-sized businesses across many industries with a perpetual mindset. We believe a well-run business is worth protecting, nurturing, and growing, and that it is a privilege to work with and learn from experts in their field.

After we buy

It keeps running…
The management team can stay on and keep the company running as it always has. And for an owner who would rather step back, we are glad to help build the succession, from within and at your own pace.
…with the group behind it
Purchasing power, financing, and a network of fellow owners to call on when a question falls outside your own experience, plus the slightly quieter synergies of being part of something larger. Ekholmen is here whenever you want it, but never when you don't.
We keep investing…
We back organic growth with capital for the machines, facilities, and people you need to expand. We also fund acquisitions that extend your reach. Throughout, our philosophy stays simple: the right capital, deployed when profitable opportunities call for it.
…with a perpetual mindset
We plan in decades, which changes which investments are worth making and takes the short-term pressure out of a difficult year.

What we don't do

  • We do not buy in order to sell: There is no date we are managing towards.
  • We do not do layoffs: Headcount follows business needs and profits naturally move with the industry, not a spreadsheet.
  • We do not absorb brands: Every company keeps its brand, its mandates, and its people, and carries on much as it did before.
  • We do not stop investing: Cutting into a good business to lift this year's profit takes out the skill and knowledge that made it worth owning.

What we look for

Profitable, well-run, and already good at what it does. We are generalists by design, so the industry matters less to us than the quality of the business and the people in it.

We are usually talking to an owner who built the company and wants to know it will be looked after. Some stay on for years afterwards, while others prefer to step back once a succession is complete, and both paths work equally well for us.
